Last day in Budapest
Today was my last day in Budapest, and I wanted to spend it well. After helping Susan get to the airport, I ate some breakfast and then went out to the Szechenyi Baths where I spent two hours soaked in water. It is a great place! Luckily, the outside weather was nice today so it was also comfortable to be outside.
After that I went across the Donau river and looked around at the Buda part of the city. I did not stay long, but then went to West End shopping centre which truly is Big - over 400 shops is inside. I finally bought myself a new jacket, and then I went and got myself a hair cut by a charming young Hungarian hairdresser - she couldn’t speak much English though. I then went to the Market and got some gifts to the gf and a few friends back in Denmark. After that a nice quiet dinner and some strolling around the city. Unfortunately, the broadband here is so flaky that i will not attempt to upload more videos/images tonight but rather wait untill I am back in Copenhagen tomorrow.
Ahh - home! My own bed!
In the meantime, I will embed two videos that so far have surfaced after VlogEurope this weekend:
Joel Carner’s ABC video:
Marc ‘Mindcaster’s ABC video called ABCoustic Budapest:
I will edit videos from VlogEurope and upload them once I am back in Denmark.
VlogEurope 2008
VlogEurope 2008 ended yesterday. Throughout Flickr, videos and images are appearing.
I had great fun meeting everyone. We discussed, took lots of video and pictures, and explored Budapest together.
A large part of Saturday was spent doing Budapest A-Z which will start appear on the internet soon. 4 groups were asked to take footage of ‘A’, ‘B’ and so on. It could be an object, but also something more abstract like a mood or adjective for scenery or activity. The footage from the four groups will then be used in new constellations to represent Budapest or to spell something out. Basically, this is an exercise in collaborative videoblogging.
Thanks to all who came and made this VlogEurope another great event!
Monday morning, 05:36
I have not had anything to drink. But I fell asleep in my hotel room in Kaunas, Lithuania where we Sunday had election observation. We were waiting for the election observation teams to return from the polling stations where they were observing the counting procedures.
I fell asleep before they returned. It has been such a loong day yesterday - up before 5 AM.
Before I fell asleep I thought about today’s workshop - the last part of my workshop here in Lithuania. The deal, in short:
I am in Lithuania with a Danish organization to give a workshop about video production for Belarusian political activists as well as Danish election observers. I have earlier written about my woes preparing the workshop.
On Friday, I had the workshop for the Belarusians. My .ppt slides were translated to Russian, but because I dont speak Russian myself and we needed one of them (the one who speaks English) to translate to Russian as we talked - - it was not as engaged as it could have been.
On saturday, I did a workshop for the Danish participants. Whereas the Belarusians are to learn the craft so they can teach others at home and hopefully reach, the Danes are to primarily document the process of election observation, and document whatever they see of interest.
Sunday was election day. Things went pretty calm during the day. I have not seen all the footage yet - will get footage in a few hours once the others wake up.
Monday - today - we will have the final part of the workshop where we edit the videos from the weekend and upload to the interwebs.
It will be interesting to see how it goes. Whether I manage to get their Attention. Whether they leave the workshop having learned the process well.
