Our civilization on her way to conquest modern times
At the universal exhibition of Bruxelles in 1958, the following video was presented:
It was called “poeme électronique”, and there are several accounts about it scattered around the internet.
I have a long-standing interest in architecture, and lately I have been reading up on Le Corbusier, and I remember phrases and images from Rem Koolhas’ book, that I read over for a few years.
And I look back at the video from the first demo of the mouse, that Doug Engelbart did in the 1960s. And I scan through some of the books about modernism, or modern architecture, or the early uses of video, or computers.
And I compare that with the current exploration with video on the net.
And I ask myself: Is this it?

I must have watched this six times. I can dirive nothing from it whatsoever.
Again, Rem Koolhaus was in that Sand Castles PBS special on creating a city in the desert in the United Arab Emirates. He wasn’t the primary object of the film, just a part of it. The primary people were an architectural firm in … shoot, it was either Oslo or Copenhagen. I’m dying fo you to see it. They’re big, so I’m hoping you know who they are.
BTW, I have some photos of some buildings rem koolhaus did for IIT in chicago. A school known for it’s architecture and in particular it’s buildings by Mies Vanderhoe. Glass and steel boxes. Rem did their dorm and student center. I rather like the student center though I don’t think as much of the dorm.
